Once a year, a group of my friends from all over the country (and Canada) invades the house. I pull out all the folding beds, and we have a long weekend of fun, food, films, festivities, more fun. This year the theme was Superheroes, and on Saturday (May 3rd), we threw a Superhero party for us and the usual bunch of local peeps. A group of Ludvík's fellow CIEE exchange students joined us, too. It was a blast.

With help, I turned the basement into a superhero bar, a local watering hole, as it were, for heroes and villains to hang out and strut their stuff. As the saying goes: "Build it and they will come," and they did. Heroes and villains such as the Mad Scientist, the Angora Avenger, the Craptastic Four along with their arch-enemy, the Terrorist, the Black Cat, the F-Bomb, and the Ringmaster showed up, among others. Some of the Supers were incognito, hiding their superpowers behind secret identities.

Sue and Jake issued challenges for the superheroes to test their powers of dexterity, charisma, super-breath, ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound, and hacky-sack skills. To be honest, after all that merrymaking I don't recall exactly who earned the most points -- maybe it was Audrey (Valley Girl of the Craptastic Four)? I'm pretty sure everyone had fun, no matter how many points they got.

As usual, there is photographic evidence of the hilarity. Pictures courtesy of Sue and Ludvík.

Speaking of photographic evidence, I have been slowly uploading pictures from past events. Only months late, I've finally posted my pictures from Dragon*Con 2007. You'll see lots of superheroes there, too. (Among other really weird stuff.)

Take care!
